to swim or not to swim

So, the endo checkup didn’t reveal any endo, which was great. The doctor thought she saw a sort of heart-sharped uterus… I’ve had several other images taken of it, with results from retrograde to normal, I’m starting to think it can morph. We’ll take a “wait and see” approach on this.
Just to be sure (on the assumption that the issues were mine), we also had H’s sperm tested. Oops. Turns out they don’t swim so well. Numbers seem to be fine, which is good. We’re supposed to keep trying, but stop charting (WTF? I don’t think so), and repeat the SA in a couple of months. (With 2 countries and 3 insurances in the mix, it’s not all straightforward.)

  1. I feel like this is a positive step– at least you are figuring out what is wrong, and some of this at least can certainly be addressed. . . Waiting sucks, though. For sure.

  2. I’m glad the endo has stayed away, but sorry to hear about your husband’s SA. So, the motility was off? I can’t suggest anything here but I know that there are many ladies (with blogs and on boards) who have dosed their husbands very successfully with vitamins and things. I think Randine Lewis’s book also has a section on this, with suggestions.

(I’m with you on the charting…we have so little control I’m not about to give it up, though it DOES drive me crazy).

  3. Hi CC, just wanted to say thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment.

Great news on the endo, not such great news on the SA. I agree with what Adele said though, lots of simple solutions you can try.

Look forward to reading more of your journey.

  4. I have some of the same concerns about my hubby’s swimmers, due to the fact that he had some issues as a child and had to have some surgery. Once I get back to the US permanently and have access to my doctor and whoever she would refer, I’m going to check into that whether he likes it or not.

I’ve sworn that if I am not pregnant this cycle, I’m taking a month off of charting and all of that. But now that I’ve done it, I’m not sure I can stop. I’m with Adele on the fact that the control feels good. :)

  5. Hi. Thanks for your comments on my blog and adding it to your blog list. I have done the same, I am your newest follower.

Sorry to hear about DH’s sperm issues. As you probably know, we are in the same position, we thought my PCOS was the only problem, then wham! We have MFI to deal with as well. I know how much of a shock it can be, thinking of you.

  6. Thanks all!

Leslie — I agree that it’s positive in the sense that we now have something to look into. And that they didn’t tell us to move to ICSI directly as it’s moderately impaired motility “only”.

Adele — we’ve been adding zinc since then, vitamin C too, but I don’t know if the doses are high enough. I’ve also read that L-carnitine might help. Thanks for the book recommendation, I had not heard of that!

Gidget — being abroad and dealing with IF makes it all the more fun, don’t you agree?
